Each skein is hand-dyed by the Hypnotic Yarn team in our studio using professional acid dyes. Our small-batch dyeing process ensures vibrant, high-quality colors that are long-lasting and unique. Yes! The wool used in our yarns is ethically produced from sheep that have not been mulesed. Our manufacturer carefully sources fiber only from reliable suppliers who uphold best practices in animal husbandry, environmental sustainability, and fiber grading.

Most of our yarn bases are a superwash merino and nylon blend—soft, durable, and easy to care for. We also occasionally offer specialty bases in other fibers, which may or may not be machine washable. Fiber content and care instructions are provided with each product listing.

Speckled – Tiny flecks or dots of color create a multi-dimensional effect.

Tonal – Variations within the same color add depth while keeping a cohesive look.

Variegated – Multiple distinct colors form a dynamic pattern.

Due to the nature of hand-dyeing, every skein is unique and may vary slightly from the photos. Additionally, screen settings can affect color appearance. These variations are part of the charm of hand-dyed yarn!

Yes. Most of our yarns are stored as hanks—which preserves their natural twist and prevents stretching or tangling. Before use, the yarn should be wound into a cake with a ball winder and swift. It's crucial that all strands are wound in the same direction; even one strand going the wrong way can create severe tangles that are extremely difficult to fix.

Yes! Whenever we have extra skeins from our Yarnable subscription boxes, they're added to the website for purchase. The latest month's colorway typically becomes available about a month after it launches.

Orders typically ship within 1-3 business days, Tuesday through Friday. You'll receive a tracking email once your order is on its way.

Yes! We ship worldwide. International shipping charges are calculated at checkout, and customs fees or import duties may apply depending on your country.

We'll do our best to combine shipping for orders placed on the same day, but we cannot guarantee it. Note that Hypnotic Yarn orders and Yarnable subscriptions ship separately.

Please contact us as soon as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate. Because we typically ship quickly, we can't make changes once an order has left our facility.

That said, if this is your first order and you're not completely happy with what arrives, we offer a no-questions-asked return with prepaid return postage—as long as the yarn is unused and in original condition. Just contact us within 7 days of receipt. We really want you to love your yarn!

Once your package leaves our facility it's handled by USPS, and sadly, we have no additional information beyond the tracking number provided. If it's delayed or missing, contact USPS customer service. If your package was marked as delivered but is missing—or if tracking shows it was last scanned locally—please reach out to your local post office; they can actually track where it went with GPS!

Always ensure that the shipping address provided for your order is a secure location. Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do if your package is stolen. We strongly recommend reporting any theft to your local authorities.

We do not offer custom orders or custom dyeing. However, if you're a business interested in collaborating on a larger project, please reach out—we'd love to discuss partnership opportunities!

To keep your finished items looking their best, we recommend handwashing in cool water and laying flat to dry. If your project is made with superwash yarn, it can be machine washed on a delicate cycle with cool water.

Our dyes are professionally heat-set to minimize bleeding. However, during the first few washes, you might notice a very slight release of excess dye, which can occasionally cause minor dye transfer if you wash contrasting colors together. We recommend washing light and dark shades separately—or using a color catcher—to help prevent this.

Over time, natural fading can occur with repeated washing and prolonged sunlight exposure, so following the care instructions and storing items away from direct light will help preserve your yarn's vibrancy.
