Return & Refund Policy

We want you to feel confident choosing our yarn. To support that, we offer a special return option for first-time customers, along with a clear standard return policy for all other orders.

Please take a moment to review the details below so you know what to expect if you ever need to request a return or refund.

First-Time Order Returns (7 Days)

If this is your first purchase from Hypnotic Yarn and you contact us within 7 days of delivery, we're happy to offer a no-questions-asked return, including prepaid return shipping, provided that the yarn is:

  • Unused
  • In original condition
  • In original packaging

To begin a return, please contact us and we'll email you a prepaid return label as a printable PDF.

We ask that returned items be dropped off with the carrier within 7 days of receiving the prepaid label. If the label expires or the return is shipped after this timeframe, the return will be handled under the standard return policy outlined below.

Yarnable subscriptions: If you choose to return your first Yarnable subscription box under this policy, your subscription will be canceled. This first-time return option is intended as a risk-free way to try our yarn, rather than a recurring return option.

Standard Returns (14 Days)

Our standard return window is 14 days from the date of delivery.

To be eligible for a standard return:

  • Items must be unused, in original condition, and in original packaging
  • A receipt or proof of purchase is required

If more than 14 days have passed since delivery, we're unable to offer a refund.

Returns that fall outside the first-time order benefit are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account product condition, timing, and order details.

Damaged or Defective Items

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect due to our error, please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We'll provide a prepaid return label and offer a replacement, or a full refund if a replacement isn't available.

To help us resolve the issue quickly, we may ask that you include photos of the damage or concern when reaching out.

Items Not Eligible for Return

While we do our best to be flexible, we're unable to accept returns on the following items:

  • Sale or clearance items (final sale)
  • Custom-dyed or made-to-order items
  • Gift cards
  • Downloadable or digital products
  • Printed patterns
  • Items that are damaged, missing parts, or not in original condition for reasons not related to our error
  • Items returned more than 14 days after delivery

Yarnable Subscription Boxes

First box: Eligible for our first-time order return policy. Returning your first box will cancel your subscription.

Subsequent boxes: Because we share a full color sneak peek in advance, we're unable to accept returns based on color preference. We encourage you to preview each month's colorway at yarnablesneakpeek.com by the 5th and skip any month that isn't right for you.

Damaged or defective boxes: Please contact us and we'll work with you to make it right.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll email you to let you know whether your refund has been approved.

If approved:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable, except in cases where an item arrived damaged or incorrect due to our error

Please allow up to 10 business days for your bank or credit card provider to process the refund.

Return Shipping Costs

  • First-time order returns within 7 days qualify for prepaid return shipping
  • Damaged or defective items due to our error also qualify for prepaid return shipping

For all other approved returns:

  • Return shipping is the customer's responsibility
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable
  • If we cover return shipping on your behalf, those costs may be deducted from your refund

We recommend using a trackable shipping method and purchasing shipping insurance. We're unable to process a return until the item is received back at our studio.
